The other day, a very skinny man and his daughter caught our attention at one of our clothes donation distributions. Their quiet and reserved demeanor sparked our concern, so we decided to visit them at their home to better understand their situation.

Whenever we visit a family for the first time, we always bring a food package to build trust and break the ice. Pak Sucipta shared with us that he has been struggling to provide for his twin daughters, trying to make ends meet as a GoJek driver, ever since the unexpected death of his beloved wife, that left him and his little daughters in an unstable emotional state.

However, he often struggles to earn enough to cover even basic needs, leaving him without money for petrol to fuel his GoJek job. Which prevents him from working and earning an income, trapping him in a vicious cycle. His twin daughters sleep on this old spring mattress, with the exposed springs poking through the cover and disturbing their sleep. Meanwhile, he sleeps on an extremely thin sponge mat, making it nearly impossible for his skinny body to get rest and recharge at night. And as if all of this weren’t enough, his greatest worry is that he cannot afford to pay for his second twin’s school certificate - a crucial requirement for her to continue her education.
