Ragam's Community Kitchen

Today we drove to the Ragam community kitchen to cook together with its founder Nick Nasi Bunkus for the families affected by the TPA Suwung trash fire and for other people in need. The ingredients for today's cooking mission were purchased with your donations.

After Nick had explained to us how to chop the long beans he told us more about his foundation: he cooks Tuesday to Saturday together with his team and with the help of volunteers for many different social projects. After we finished chopping a seemingly endless amount of vegetables we prepared the rice and cooked a delicious tempeh and a tasty noodle dish.

Now it was time to introduce us to the magic skill of wrapping Nasi Bunkus. We got the hang of it pretty quickly - we packed 600 Nasi Bunkus for 2mio Rupiah (120$) worth of ingredients - that’s 3,000 Rupiah (20 cents) per portion. After prepping the wrapping paper for the next day it was time for the delivery. Our fist stop was the BaliLife street kids center, followed by the vision house orphanage in Denpasar, then the YPK rehabilitation center for the physically disabled and at the end the BaliLife TPA Suwung community center, where our precooked Nasi Bunkus delivery was already awaited.

All of these people would have had nothing to eat today, if it wasn’t for your generous donations and the amazing work of Ragam foundation.
